Studio Policy
Policies for School Year Lessons (September to May)
· Attendance of weekly lessons (except for various holidays - see calendar).
· Responsibility to meet all weekly practice and theory assignments.
· Responsibility to bring all books and materials to each lesson (assignment notebook, lesson book, repertoire book, theory book).
· Completion and test for theory (using apps and books).
· Participation in the annual Recital (this is usually in February).
· Optional participation in piano festivals (non-competitive events in which students play in the designated style for a judge) and contests locally.
Tuition
· Fall and Spring tuition is a flat monthly fee. I do not charge by the lesson. In addition, I do not charge extra for recitals, additional ensemble rehearsals, my time spent recording students’ music, grading online theory homework, and preparing lesson plans for students.
~ 30 minute lessons - $190 monthly
~ 45 minutes lessons - $285 monthly
· Tuition is due on the first lesson of each month. A $15 late fee is charged for payment after the 15th of the month.
· An annual supply fee of $25 (notebooks, papers, copies, sheet protectors, CDs and miscellaneous materials) is due in the Fall semester (Spring for new students).
·A technology fee of $25 per year will be charged for various app subscriptions for use in the lesson and at home.
· Book fees are due at the beginning of each semester. Festival & Contest fees will be collected prior to each event.
· One-month’s notice is required to cancel lessons altogether to avoid paying the next month’s tuition.
Make-up & Swap Lessons
Only emergencies, illnesses and any lessons missed by the teacher will be made up. Make-up lessons will be scheduled at the convenience of the teacher. If a student is not able to attend two reasonable attempts to make up a lesson, the lesson will be forfeited.
Sporting events, doctors appointments, after school activities, or any other activity will not be made up, but you may swap times with another student for that same week, if all parties are agreeable. Keep a copy of the semester schedule for quick reference of students and parents names with phone numbers if you need to make a trade.
A no-show is a forfeited lesson.
Virtual Lessons
I am happy to offer (and I prefer) in-person lessons, but I do have the option for a virtual lesson in case of an illness (if your child isn't well enough to go to school, but they feel well enough for an online lesson). Virtual lessons may either be through this website or Zoom.
Summer Lessons
A minimum of 3 one-hour lessons are required to hold your spot for the following fall semester. Missed summer lessons will not be credited for the ensuing Fall semester. Tuition is charged per lesson at $95 per hour.
